After sitting out Mortal Kombat X, Jade is back and will likely have a notable role to play in 11’s story. Following her death in 2011’s Mortal Kombat, Jade was resurrected and enslaved by Quan Chi and now “serves the Netherrealm as an undead Revenant.”

A quick comparison between Jade from the trailer and Jade in past games makes it apparent that Quan Chi’s magic has left its mark on her. Most notably her grey skin and glowing eyes serve as visual reminders of her return from the dead and the Netherrealm’s control.

In the trailer, Jade can be seen wielding her iconic Bo Staff and dishing out some devastating combos on a number of opponents. Most notably her grabs, environmental attacks, and finishing blow look particularly devastating.

The highlight of the trailer comes when Jade performs one of her fatalities on Baraka. Viewers may notice a small amount of homage being paid to some of the character’s past fatalities, but overall it does a good job showing off the gruesome and detailed visuals of the new game.

Seeing such a notable character make her return to the franchise should help to get fans excited about Mortal Kombat 11. Hopefully, NetherRealm Studios can continue to unveil some great additions to the roster in the run-up to the game’s launch.
