Destiny Connect

Destiny Connect for PS4 and Switch Looks Cute in First PlayStation 4 Gameplay

Today Nippon Ichi Software hosted a livestream from its headquarters and among other things the prolific developer showcased the first gameplay of the upcoming JRPG Destiny Connect.

We get to see the very beginning of the game played on PS4, including a combat tutorial disguised as a scene seen on TV. This is followed by a bit of exploration and more dialogue.

The gameplay certainly shows a different visual approach compared to the usual Nippon Ichi fare. While this isn’t exactly a technological miracle, we can see that the developer is making an effort to work its way up the tech tree.

I, for one, quite like the result, and Destiny Connect seems to mix this new style with old-school quasi-ATB-based JRPG gameplay, which many fans of the genre will probably enjoy.

You can see the recording of the section below (courtesy of YouTube user TopGaime), and the full livestream, which is quite funny as usual with Nippon Ichi Software’s broadcasts.

Destiny Connect has been recently delayed in Japan to Thursday, March 14, and it’ll release for PS4 and Switch.

If you want to see more, you can check out the latest screenshots, first trailer and screenshots,  and another video released a few weeks ago.

At the moment, no western release has been announced.
