How to Get Lithium in Subnautica
The deep waters of Subnautica are ripe with materials for the taking, one of which being Lithium, an essential ingredient for crafting vehicle upgrades, better fins, and even a propulsion cannon for the Exosuit. Here’s how to get Lithium in Subnautica.
As a raw material, you can find clumps of Lithium on the seabed, along walls, within shale outcrops, and in large resource deposits.
Lithium Locations in Subnautica
- Bulb Zone
- Bulb Zone Caves
- Crag Field
- Crash Zone
- Deep Sparse Reef
- Dunes
- Dunes Caves
- Floating Island
- Grassy Plateaus (rare)
- Jellyshroom Cave (arguably the safest biome to go hunting)
- Mountains
- Mountain Island
- Mountain Range Caves
- Mushroom Forest
- Mushroom Forest Caves
- Sea Treader’s Path (near non-hostile leviathans, beware of being warped)
- Sparse Reef
The aforementioned large resource deposit for Lithium can largely be found in the Lost River, Mountain, and Mountain Cave biomes as well as all the biomes mentioned above. Large Lithium deposits aren’t as discernable as others, appearing as a plain collection of protruding rocks.
As mentioned in our How to Get Magnetite guide, you’ll need the Drill Arm upgrade for your Prawn Suit to collect these large deposits, which ironically you need a single lump of Lithium for. The recipe for the Drill Arm is as follows:
- Titanium (5)
- Lithium
- Diamond (4)
What to Make with Lithium
Once you’ve gathered enough of the material, you can begin to craft the following items:
- Plasteel Ingot
- Reinforcement
- Ultra High Capacity Tank
- Ultra Glide Fins
- Prawn Suit Grappling Arm Module
- Prawn Suit Torpedo Arm
- Prawn Suit Jump Jet Upgrade
- Seamoth Storage Solution
- Seamoth Hull Reinforcement
How to Craft Plasteel
This ingredient is key for crafting Plasteel, an essential material for some of Subnautica’s more advanced upgrades. To craft a Plasteel Ingot through the Fabricator, you’ll need:
- Lithium x2
- Titanium Ingot
You can only craft a Plasteel Ingot once you’ve completed either the Seamoth, Prawn Suit or Cyclops blueprints, but once achieved, you can make a wealth of Depth Modules and the following with Plasteel:
- Exosuit
- Nuclear Reactor
- Lightweight High Capacity Tank
That’s all you need to know about how to get Lithium. For more guides and info on Subnautica, be sure to look for Twinfinite.
