Anime Defenders Unit Tier List – Update 6

In the Anime Defenders tier list above, I’ve only included the mythic and above units, as almost all legendaries, epics, and rares are not viable except for story; their stats/utility compared to those of mythics are just subpar. If you still need a ranking for sub-mythics, I included a separate tier list further down, including explanations for each unit.

Meta Anime Defenders Units

  • Dark Revenant — Dark Revenant is among the strongest units in Anime Defenders. It has insane DPS, massive full AoE, and a skill that can one-shot bosses every 120 seconds. It’s simply insane.
  • Crimson Phantom — Crimson Phantom is a full AoE DPS machine. It has the best DoT burn in the game, has an insane range, and is also a hybrid. Plus, it has a great skill that’ll help you deal with bosses.
  • Shadow Dragon (Unlocked) — Shadow Dragon (Unlocked) is one of the rarest and strongest exclusive units in Anime Defenders right now. He is full AoE, multi-hit, hybrid, and provides a 25% range and 15% cooldown buffs to other units with his active. He is simply broken.
  • Radiant Monarch — Radiant Monarch is arguably the strongest Athenyx secret. It has one of the best bleeds in the game, huge AoE, and amazing DPS.
  • Dragon Mage — Dragon Mage not only has one of the best DPSs in AD as a full AoE unit but can buff other burn allies, too. He is just too strong right now, and getting him should be your priority.
  • Golden Adult — Golden Adult is full AoE when maxed out with crazy range and DPS. Plus, his attack applies both burn and bleed, increasing his effective DPS further. He is simply OP.
  • Poseidon (Sea Sovereign) — Poseidon (Sea Sovereign) is arguably the strongest support in the game right now. It not only slows enemies but also deals insane damage with its full AoE attack. You really can’t go wrong with it.
  • Lunar Empress — Lunar Empress doesn’t have a burn, but she ramps up much quicker than Solar Slayer. Plus, her overall DPS and the range/size of her line AoE are all massive.
  • The Rift Sorcerer (Awakened) — Gojo is one of the most OP secrets. He is full AoE when maxed out with insane DPS and slow. Plus, he is a hybrid, which removes the need for a designated hill unit.
  • The Cursed Knight (Unlocked) — Igris is now unobtainable but is still sought after as one of the strongest secrets in the game. He applies vulnerability to enemies, is hybrid, has great DPS, and has full AoE.
  • Elf Saint — Elf Saint confuses enemies every three attacks, forcing them to walk backward. She is also full AoE, with very good DPS and a massive range. She is a meta support for sure.

S+ Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Legion Captain — Legion Captain is arguably the second-best exclusive right now. She is a hill unit with solid damage and range. Plus, she can summon extra units, increasing her DPS further.
  • Demon King (Peak) — When evolved and fully upgraded, Demon King (Peak) is among the best support in the game. His slow lasts for 5 seconds, and his SPA is low enough that he can apply it almost permanently in an ultra-wide AoE radius. His DPS isn’t half-bad, either.
  • Cursed Berserker Paladin — CBP can easily achieve a 100% crit rate with Legion Assassin Master’s ability, making him one of the strongest DPSs in the game. However, he can’t target flying enemies.
  • Grand Aether Knight — Grand Aether Knight’s passive gives him 2%+ damage for each unit in its massive full AoE range, making him very strong right now. Plus, he is a hybrid and costs only ¥500 to place. Use him together with SJW to max out his passive quickly.
  • Sage (Deity) — Sage (Deity) is the definition of raw DPS. It has 4 placement count and very good stats.
  • Prime Leader — Prime Leader is full AoE with solid DPS and an OP active that applies a 30-second slow of 30% on enemies it hits. He doesn’t have any other utility, unfortunately.
  • King of Dragons — King of Dragons has one of the highest DPSs among all burn units in Anime Defenders, though his attack is only a circle AoE. He also has an active that basically nukes the whole map, which is pretty OP.
  • Shadow Master — Shadow Conjurer Evo has a big AoE attack and the highest sustained DPS of all mythics. He even outperforms some secrets in that regard.
  • Ice Dragon Queen — Ice Dragon Queen is a multi-hit big AoE support unit with superb DPS. She slows enemies, almost freezing them in place. Plus, she even got buffs to her slow duration recently, making her even more OP.
  • Pink Rockstar — Bocchi is the most meta money-farming unit in AD, and she also has a skill that buffs other units within her range by 20%. She is indispensable for basically all game modes.

S Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Legion Assassin Master — Legion Assassin Master is a hybrid unit with solid AoE and DPS. Plus, he is a support that buffs other units’ crit chance by 30%, which is insane.
  • The Demon Overlord — The Demon Overlord is one of the easiest secrets to get and one of the best bleed units in the game, with a massive full AoE attack. Plus, he can buff other bleed units like Bear King and Curse Prince.
  • The Pro Gamer — SJW summons enemies he killed with 1/4 HP and has really cheap upgrades, making him capable of solo carrying you through most game content.
  • Solar Overlord — Solar Overlord takes time to ramp up, but once he does, he becomes one of the best burn units in Anime Defenders. Still, others, like the Dragon Mage, outperform it by a lot on short modes.
  • Skull Vindicator — Skull Vindicator has a huge line AoE attack that channels for most of its cooldown, making his SPA significantly lower than indicated by his stats. His high DPS, extremely high range, and four placement count make him a pretty solid ground unit.
  • Curse Overlord — Curse Overlord is a very solid hybrid DPS that applies both burn and bleed. However, he has a somewhat low range and no full AoE. He also has a broken active that deals a minimum of 50% HP of damage to all enemies in his range.
  • Grand Jadefire Knight — Grand Jadefire Knight is a really meta mythic support that can increase the damage enemy units take. Plus, he is a hybrid and deals very good damage.
  • Bloomer — Bloomer is a farm unit, just like Pink Rockstar, but much easier to get. She is meta if you don’t have Rockstar or if you want to run them both.

A Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Legion Veteran (Max) — Legion Veteran (Max) is a support that can buff other units’ range and deal solid damage in a wide AoE. However, he’s not as good as secrets or other exclusive units regarding DPS.
  • Chance King — Hakari is a unit with an amazing range and huge AoE. However, he can only target the ground, and his DPS is meh.
  • Expert Sharpshooter — Expert Sharpshooter is an okayish hill unit with an active that can really help with bosses. However, it isn’t enough to make her more viable than any of the meta hybrid units.
  • Crimson Demon Ninja — Crimson Demon Ninja is Natsu you got off of Temu. Both his base and DoT DPSs are lower. Still, he isn’t as bad as Ant King or Esper.
  • Celestial Qi Master — Celestial Qi Master is a pretty respectable full AoE DPS mythic. Consider it a much better version of Carp/Elf that can compete with other meta mythics.
  • Muscular Sorcerer (Enhanced) — Muscular Sorcerer (Enhanced) is a pretty solid mythic. He is full AoE and has good base damage. Plus, his skill’s SPA isn’t as high as his stats indicate, as his ability channels for a fair amount of time.
  • Donut Master — Donut Master is still one of the meta mythic supports. He slows enemies and has excellent AoE and range; all are a must if you want to go high on Infinite. However, Ice Dragon is simply better.

B Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Champion Marksman — Champion Marksman is pretty underwhelming, both evo and unevo. However, it is a bit better than Blazing Soulmaster, as it’s a hybrid and has a better range.
  • Darkness King — Darkness King has a massive full AoE attack when fully upgraded. However, his overall DPS is relatively low compared to other top-tier secrets, and he doesn’t offer any other utility.
  • Slime Spirit Queen — Overall, Slime Spirit Queen might be among the weakest secrets in Anime Defenders. Its DPS and utility are just not enough to make it worth getting. The only thing inflating its price is the fact that it’s so rare.
  • Pink Demon Mage — Pink Demon Mage is basically an alternative version of Pink Rockstar. She slows enemies in a wide range, can deal damage, and farms gold. However, the gold farm is really lacking compared to Pink Rockstar.
  • Bear King (Unlocked) — Bear King (Unlocked) is a hybrid, bleed, full AoE unit that is still among the more solid mythics in Anime Defenders. Use him together with The Demon Lord to make the most out of him.
  • Monster Sorcerer — Monster Sorcerer has a wide-range line AoE attack that deals solid damage when fully upgraded. However, its SPA is garbage, making him a questionable pick

C Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Blazing Grandmaster — Blazing Grandmaster has a line AoE attack when fully upgraded that deals somewhat respectable damage. However, most other end-game units outperform it by a large margin.
  • Warrior Queen — Warrior Queen is a full AoE map-wipe unit. I wouldn’t consider her absolute meta because, besides damage, she doesn’t offer much. Still, she is good as a replacement for Elf/Carp.
  • Water Grandmaster — Even though he can only target ground, Giyu is fairly strong. He has a massive AoE attack, relatively low SPA, and high base damage. However, the lack of utility cripples him.
  • Queen Swordmaster — Even when evolved, Queen Swordmaster is still fairly underwhelming. Her lack of utility and no full AoE are just crippling. However, she is cheap to upgrade and place, making her solid as a starter.
  • Bionic Machine (Full Power) — Bionic Machine (Full Power) is a fairly mediocre hill DPS that has okay burn and extra crit on his passive. However, there are so many other mythics that outperform it.

D Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Gale Sage — Gale Sage is pretty weak for a hill unit. He does have full AoE, but most of it will be wasted due to limited placement spots.
  • Thunder God — Thunder God is better than Esper but still fairly mid. The only good thing about him is that he has a multi-hit ability that is good against shielded enemies.
  • Unstable Esper — Unstable Esper is arguably the worst mythic on this whole tier list, but he is still better than most epics. I wouldn’t advise rolling/trading for him unless you are a completionist.
  • Ant King (Unlocked) — Ant King (Unlocked) has one of the widest full AoEs in the game. However, his DPS is really bad, making him a poor choice for most game modes.

Anime Defenders Sub-Mythic Unit Tier List

Note that some of the S-tier sub-mythics are also listed in the meta Anime Defenders tier list at the beginning of the post. That’s because their utility provides value throughout the game.

S+ Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Cursed Fighter — Cursed Fighter is a meta support that applies vulnerability to enemies, increasing the DMG they take by 15%. His AoE is also very good.
  • Chief of Ice — Chief of Ice is not only an OP support for the early game but is also useful for the late game. He is full AoE when upgraded, deals solid damage, and, most importantly, slows enemies.
  • Chief of Lava — Chief of Lava is a solid starter legendary that can apply burn until you get Natsu. He is also a hill unit, which might come in handy.
  • Pink Rockstar — Bocchi is the meta money-farming unit, and she can also buff other units within her range by 20% with her ability. Together with Bloomer, it is a priority you obtain her as early as possible.
  • Dunestriker — Dunestriker has full AoE when maxed out, with good DPS and range. He is one of the best legendaries you can use as a beginner.
  • Bloomer — Bloomer is one of the meta farm units, and she is easy to get. It is a priority you get her as early as possible.
  • Frost Reaper — Frost Reaper is an alternative to Gray. Both are slow, and their range/AoE is also similar.
  • Clay — Gray is basically the Chief of Ice you bought on Wish. His slows are good and necessary on literally every stage, so use him until you get a better slow unit.

S Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Master Swordsman — Master Swordsman is one of the best starter legendaries due to his low SPA and full AoE.
  • Electric Cyborg — Electric Cyborg is a good starter with turrets. However, he is unobtainable as of June 2024.
  • Purple Demon Berserker — Purple Demon Berserker is a solid AoE DPS legendary you can use as a starter.
  • Strongest Swordsman — Strongest Swordsman is excellent in the early game because of his multi-attack line AoE. However, he isn’t useful later on.
  • Zephyra — Zephyra has a cone AoE attack with extremely good DPS for a legendary. She is very useful in the early game.
  • Storm Slayer — Storm Slayer is a new legendary with a line AoE Attack. Her damage is solid, and her SPA is low. Use her for the early game.
  • The Beast — The Beast is arguably the best epic for beginners, with a full AoE and really good DPS when max upgraded. However, he falls off later, while all other S-tier sub-mythics don’t.
  • Ronin Sage — Ronin Sage is full AoE with one of the best DPSs among all rare units. He is as good as The Beast, really.

A Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Cursed Archer — Cursed Archer is one of the more recent hill units. It can bleed enemies, preventing them from regenerating shields, but otherwise, it doesn’t offer much.
  • Maxed Qi Master — Maxed Qi Master is okay as a starter, but nothing too special. He is a bad investment now that there are other, better legendaries.
  • Shinobi Form 3 — Shinobi Form 3 is decent as a starter DPS, but considering that he is legendary, he is pretty underwhelming.
  • Chief of Light — Chief of Light is an okay starter. He has a large circle attack when upgraded and solid DPS.
  • Golden Emperor (Retrived) — Golden Emperor (Retrived) is among the worst legendary units. Still, you’ll need him for the double evolutions of some mythics.
  • Inferno Commander — Inferno Commander has a full circle AoE attack when fully upgraded and burn in his kit. He is pretty solid until you get Chief of Lava or Natsu.
  • Dragon Slayer — Dragon Slayer is one of the best epics in terms of DPS. Plus, he is Full AoE, can apply burn, and is a hybrid.

B Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Fire Leg Master — Fire Leg Master is kind of okay in the early game because of his burn and wide-line AoE.
  • Blood Demon — Blood Demon can inflict bleed, making her a solid unit against shields. However, all of her other stats aren’t good.
  • Ocean Guardian — Ocean Guardian is a multi-hit epic unit with okayish DPS. However, he is unobtainable as of June 2024.
  • Spirit Hybrid — DPS-wise, Spirit Hybris is outperformed by basically all other epics. Still, the bleed can come in handy early on.
  • Zen Swordsman — Zen Swordsman is another unit that is part of the Lucky Ticket banner. His DPS is pretty solid for an epic.
  • Sea Enchantress — Sea Enchantress has somewhat good AoE and DPS. However, she lacks any other utility, making her not that worth using over Ronin Sage and the like.
  • Radiant Guardian (Retrived) — Radiant Guardian (Retrived) is faily bad for an epic tower. However, you’ll need him for the double evolutions of some mythics.

C Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Soulforce Reaper — Soulforce Reaper is a mediocre epic with AoE. He is good as a stat stick.
  • Ascended Qi Master — Ascended Qi Master has a lot of upgrades, and that’s it.
  • Vengeful Shinobi — Vengeful Shinobi is possibly the worst epic in Anime Defender. Still, he is better than almost any rare DPS unit.
  • Savage — Savage is part of the Lucky Ticket banner. He is one of the strongest rare units regarding DPS, making him worth using early on.
  • Pirate Hunter — Pirate Hunter is one of the few good rare towers concerning DPS. Use him until you get an epic.
  • Clown Pirate — He is full AoE when upgraded fully, which makes him a solid pick for the very early game.
  • Soul Reaper — Soul Reaper has commendable DPS for a rare. Use him for the early story stages.
  • Verdant Guardian — Verdant Guardian has a solid AoE radius and okay DPS. He is one of the best DPS rare units.

D Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Shinobi — Basically a male version of Pink Shinobi. You can use him as a DPS until you get something better.
  • Fire Swordsman — Fire Swordsman can apply burn. Therefore, he is worth using in the early game. However, he seems to be unobtainable right now.
  • Qi Master — Qi Master’s AoE is big, but the DPS is too low. Don’t use this guy.
  • Salamander — Salamander’s DPS is mediocre, and his burn ticks only once. He is just not worth using.
  • Pirate Man — Line AoE and low DPS make Pirate Man atrocious.
  • Pink Shinobi — Pink Shinobi’s DPS is commendable for a rare unit. Still, she isn’t worth using over any epic.
  • Magic Arrow — Magic Arrow is a hill unit that has fairly low damage. It’s unusable even for the Story.
  • Krill — Krill is just a useless unit.
  • Cursed Nail — Cursed Nail is a hybrid, but by the time you start needing that, you’ll have much better options. Avoid using this unit.

Which Banners To Summon on in Anime Defenders

Before you roll on a banner in Anime Defenders, always check how many high-strength units from the tier list are on it. I recommend you spend your rolls on banners with at least two A+ units on them. Still, if you’re only missing one specific mythic, by all means, roll when it’s available.

The biggest pitfall is rolling when a good epic or legendary is on the banner. These shouldn’t be your focus! Instead, you want to look for specific mythics, such as S and S+-tier ones. Legendaries and epics you will get passively, as their pull chance is 8/61 times higher than for mythics.

The tier list and the supplementary info should help you make a decision on which units you should spend your hard-earned gems in Anime Defenders.
