As you can see, the beloved third-person paint-’em-up is shaping up well and it looks super wild from this video. It appears that the return of the mammals – or the ‘mammalians’ – will play a key role in the mysterious upcoming shooter.

Interestingly, during the conference, a ‘Squid Researcher’ described how the game takes place in ‘Splatsville’, which is known “as the city of Chaos,” and “is a place long inhabited by sea creatures such as squids and octopuses.”

While we got a glimpse of some of the new maps and the new weaponry, it looks like this will be a fairly traditional continuation of 2017’s Splatoon 2, which is no bad thing.

Splatoon 3 is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022, with more updates on the way.

Details are fuzzy but #Splatoon3’s new weapons are sure to intensify Splatsville’s multiplayer Turf Wars. And some very familiar faces will be lending a hand in the game’s Story Mode, Return of the Mammalians, where the Inklings’ world is about to get a lot hairier…
