Supported by the Battlefield Portal, community and developer-created modes will appear on the portal for players to jump in and play. What’s particularly interesting is that players will be able to use armies from Battlefield 2042 and mash them up against older factions using maps, weapons, vehicles, and gadgets from their era. Confirmed for launch so far is Battlefield 1942, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, in addition to Battlefield 2042 is confirmed.

Players will be able to take advantage of some dev tools to make their own game mode and more content will be added over time. An example game mode shown during EA Live pitted 4 decked-out players from 2042 in helicopters against a 32-man team of German soldiers from 1942 with no vehicles with a number of other modifiers and limitations spicing things up.

Other game modes such as “VIP” “Gun Game” and “Infected”-like modes were also name dropped during the show as possible modes players could create.
