Today Koei Tecmo released a new video of its upcoming strategy game Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV.
We get to see producer Kazuhiro Echigoya who talks about some of the basic concepts of the game.
Fans of the grand strategy genre are likely to be familiar with the concept of map painting, but normally it’s done at a provincial level.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV lets you “paint the map” in greater detail than most, letting you conquer the land and painting it with your color all the way down to the hexagon level, creating interesting struggles for supply lines and making the concept intuitive at the same time.

Romance of The Three Kingdoms XIV will be released in Japan on January 16. The game will also come in North America and Europe on February 28, 2020.

Incidentally, the game will feature a collaboration with Legend of the Galactic Heroes, even if we still don’t know what it will entail.
