Criminal Girls X May Come West

Looks like fans of the Criminal Girls series that would like to play in the game in the west may have something to look forward to in the near future with the recently-revealed Criminal Girls X.

The official Twitter account of the series responded to an English fan translation of yesterday’s gameplay loop diagram in a rather promising way.

“It’s already translated in English (sweatdrop)
It’s about time we start talking of the overseas version soon.
Thank you foreign fans
Please wait a bit.”

That certainly appears to be a confirmation that the team at Mikage is planning to release the game outside of Japan. It wouldn’t be too surprising considering that both the previous games of the series have been localized in English by NIS America.

We’ll have to wait and see how this evolves.

Incidentally, if you have seen reports that the game may come to PS5 and Switch, that’s a misinterpretation of an obvious joke made on Twitter. The official account clarified it today, and called it “fake news.”

The crowdfunding campaign for Criminal Girls X will start on April 26, and the goal is 6,000,000 yen, which translates into roughly $53,614. The objective of the campaign is to create a “console-like” release on PC, iOS, and Android, which will prompt players to pay for the content upfront, as an alternative to the free-to-play version.

The free-to-play version is expected to release in Japan in February 2020, while the full version should come in May 2020.
