Epic Games revealed the patch notes for the 7.40 update coming to Fortnite today, offering new content, challenges, and changes for the entire game.
The current Share the Love event announced last week adds 13 new “Overtime Challenges” that reward unlockable skin styles for Battle Pass owners and other free cosmetics by completing them. Epic Games also announced that players who complete all the challenges by Wednesday, Feb. 27 will receive the Season 8 Battle Pass for free.
Players will receive the Cuddle Hearts Wrap with the update, which can be earned by entering a Creator Code as part of the event.
As for new changes in Battle Royale, the semi-automatic Infantry Rifle has been added alongside the return of Clinger grenades and the limited-time weapon Cupid’s Crossbow. The only weapon vaulted with the update are common grenades which is ironic considering the new limited-time mode is “Catch!”, a mode where the only weapons are grenades or items that can be thrown.
The 7.40 update also brings back gifting cosmetics for a limited time, allowing Fortnite players to send and receive gifts until Friday, Feb. 22. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, all players will be able to gift a Heartspan Glider for free to a friend until this Friday, Feb. 15.
The Save the World mode adds a seventh challenge to the Frostnite event with new rewards, causing the storm to shrink faster with increased damage. Other new changes for the mode include the removal of the Seasonal Gold cap, improved AFK handling, and an overhaul of the Flinger enemy.
Check out the 7.40 patch notes for the complete list of new features and changes among Fortnite’s Battle Royale, Creative, and Save the World modes.
