Kingdom Hearts III Launch Event Opens at Tokyo Skytree; Trailer Released

Today, Square Enix opened a launch event for the upcoming JRPG Kingdom Hearts III in Tokyo, Japan.

The event is titled “Tower of Light and Darkness” and will be hosted at popular tourist trap Tokyo Skytree from today, Jan. 8, to March 3.

The event decorated the interior of the landmark as the titular Tower of Light and Darkness, using the worldview of the Kingdom Hearts series as a theme. There will be keyblades on display 451.2 meters above ground level, a giant “round theater” showcasing a special video 350 meters into the sky, and a shop selling plenty of dedicated goods.

Kingdom Hearts III will finally be released on PS4 and Xbox first in Japan on Jan. 25. Western gamers in North America and Europe won’t have much longer to wait in order to play the game, as it will launch on this side of the Pacific Ocean on Jan. 29.
