Fortnite studio Epic Games announced the start date for the game’s seventh season of new content today with a teaser.
The developer announced on Twitter that Season 7 will start in three days on Thursday, Dec. 6. Season 6, which began in late September, is expected to end on Wednesday, a day before the new season begins.
The teaser image above shows a menacing figure underneath an icy cloth, which could mean another threat could be coming to the world of Fortnite. The last change to the game’s Battle Royale map was caused by a roaming sentient cube that ended in a giant explosion that offered players more questions than answers.
The iciness could also represent snow changing up the environments in both Battle Royale and Save the World modes, since winter is coming towards the end of December. The tiny person skiing down the figure’s shoulder could also mean skis or snowboards are planned for the game to trek through the fresh snow.
Season 7 will arrive on the same day as The Game Awards on Thursday, Dec. 6, which announced from their official Twitter today that Epic Games will making a “world premiere” announcement regarding Fortnite at the show. While the timing of two events might be connected, the studio has said the special announcement is not about the Season 7 launch.
