Watch Dragon Quest XI S Japanese Voice Actresses in Action Ahead of Nintendo Switch Debut

During a stage event at Jump Festa hosted at the Makuhari Messe venue in Chiba, near Tokyo, Square Enix finally confirmed that Dragon Quest XI S for Nintendo Switch will have a Japanese voice track.

Two of the voice actresses who will lend their vocal skills to the characters were in attendance and gave a rather peculiar performance.

Ami Koshimizu, who will play Martina (Jade in English), and Maaya Uchida, who will play Veronica, greeted fans live while controlling the facial expressions of their heroines via a technology similar to FaceID that Square Enix is developing. For the occasion, the in-game character models of both Martina and Veronica were rigged to the system.

More importantly, this gives us a chance to see what kind of voice they’ll be using to give a soul to their characters in the Japanese version for Switch, which I’m sure many will appreciate considering that the English version features arbitrarily changed character names. We even get a taste of Koshimizu-san’s “Sexy Beam” followed by a pretty hilarious “Joking. You were staring at my chest, weren’t you?”

At the moment, there is no information on whether the Japanese voice track and the additional features included in the Switch version of Dragon Quest XI will be patched into the PS4 and PC version, which have been already out in the wild for a while.

You can check out the video below, while we wait for more information that has been promised for January.  If you want to see more, you can also check out how Dragon Quest XI S stacks against the PS4 version in terms of graphics.
