Battle of the Condiments.

Splatoon 2 releases today. This means the rapid fire matches, fun single player, whacky styles, and incredibly stylized graphics are all back. It also means that Splatfests will soon return.

For the uninitiated, Splatfests are massive tournaments that take place within Splatoon’s world. The Inklings choose a side and then battle it out to decide who is right. Nintendo of Europe revealed on Twitter that the first Splatoon 2 Splatfest will take place during the first weekend of August and pit Mayonaise against Ketchup. This will give players time to get used to the game and build up some skills before jumping into such a heated battle.

Splatoon 2 builds on the strong foundation laid by the original. Its campaign still features a slew of unique level designs and interesting challenges, but the main star is still multiplayer. We liked it in our review thanks to its unique sense of style, rock solid gameplay and unique slate of modes.

Splatoon 2 is out now for Nintendo Switch.
