Sony’s fiscal year has just ended, and they revealed that they’ve sold over 60 million PS4s worldwide. According to their financial report, 20 million PS4 units were shipped during their fiscal year of 2017. In addition to that, they’re forecasting that they will likely ship 18 million units in the fiscal year of 2017, which would bring their total shipments to 78 million. The fiscal year will run from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018.
Since the debut of the PS4, Sony has definitely been enjoying good sales and reception from their customer base. Certainly, the announcements and releases of exclusive games have helped sales as well. Titles like Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, and Horizon Zero Dawn have consistently enjoyed top spots on various gaming charts, which would help to sell the console as well.
Just last year, the company announced that they were phasing out the standard PS4s and introducing the PS4 Slim instead. The PS4 Pro was also released at the tail end of 2016.
