There has been a third expansion pack for Age of Empires 2 announced.
SkyBox Labs, the team that developed the Age of Empires 2 HD version, have been at work on the new DLC. It’s called Age of Empires 2 HD: Rise of the Rajas, and it is set to be released on December 19th. It’s pretty impressive that expansions are still being developed for a game that’s now 17 years old.
The new expansion takes place in Southeast Asia and lets players take control of four new civilizations: Vietnamese, Malay, Burmese, and Khmer. These all include full-voiced campaigns and new units to play with like the Battle Elephant (!).
There are some changes going on under the hood as well, with the developer going into some of the performance tweaks that have taken place:
“With today’s announcement of Rise of the Rajas, we’re also pushing these performance upgrades live to all of our players for free. Among other things, this makes multiplayer matches much more stable, AND we’ve added multiplayer restore back in, so if you ever DO lose a match in progress to a desync, you can get it back and pick up where you left off!”
Check the Age of Empires website for more details and information on the upcoming tournaments on Dec. 17-18.
