The news comes a week after the Technical Director at Stoic Studio John Watson told fans that the Vita port of The Banner Saga was put on hold. He said that the budgeting for the Vita version disappeared after they had to find a second porting company to work on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. The original company working on the ports shut down in May 2015.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game are ready to release on January 12th 2016, while the internal team that make up Stoic are currently focusing on Banner Saga 2. The sequel will release next year, although it doesn’t have specific release date yet.

The Banner Saga originally released on January 14th 2014 for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. It was generally well received by critics and fans.
