Microsoft Unveils Xbox One X At E3 2017

Xbox Scorpio is now Xbox One X. Here it is!

Microsoft gave the world its first look at the console officially named Xbox One X today during its E3 2017 press briefing. Previously referred to by its codename, Project Scorpio, the new console looks very similar to the dev kit version that was unveiled earlier this spring. Its name change does come as a bit of a surprise given how smitten many of us were with calling it the ‘Scorpio,’ but things change, and we’re ready to move into the future now.

The Xbox One X, powered by its much-touted 6 teraflops of processing power, is capable of playing games in full 4K ultra high-definition. Several games were shown off during Microsoft’s conference, such as Anthem, Forza Motorsport 7, and others that will make good use of the Xbox One X’s capabilities, and look good while doing it.

As was previously announced, the Xbox One X will be backwards compatible with all Xbox One games and accessories. Now it’s time to make the decision as to whether or not you’ll want to pick up an Xbox One X when it hits store shelves later this year.

Microsoft will launch Xbox One X on November 7. Goodbye, Project Scorpio, and hello Xbox One X! It’s great to meet you.
