Mortal Kombat X Enhanced Online Beta Starts Next Week

Start practicing those Fatalities again.

A few days ago, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon hinted that Mortal Kombat X would be getting a major improvement to its online performance. Now, we have a few details on how the performance of the game will be improved. NetherRealm are revamping the game’s netcode and are allowing players to test it with an upcoming beta.

In a new update video, community manager Tyler Lansdown discussed the game’s upcoming enhancements, and how players will be able to get into this beta.

The game will implement a “rollback simulate forward model” to reduce the amount of lag players experienced online. While it’s not clear if this will be GGPO, it does seem to operate similarly.

Anyone who has played Mortal Kombat X online for at least one hour can sign up for the beta on Jan. 19. The signup website will go live at that time. This beta test will include four characters and after each session, players can give feedback on the experience with an in-game prompt.

Will you try out Mortal Kombat X again with these new enhancements to its online play? Let us know in the comments.
