Death Stranding, Untitled Goose Game, and More Nominated for GDC Awards Game of the Year

The nominees for the 20th annual Game Developers Choice Awards have been revealed with Death Stranding leading with seven nominations.

The Game Developers Choice Awards takes place during the 2020 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, while nominees and winners are selected by an invitation-only organization of leading developers across the video game industry.

Death Stranding received the most nominations in Best Visual Art, Best Narrative, Best Technology, Innovation Award, Best Design, Best Audio, and Game of the Year. Control and Outer Wilds follow behind with five nominations each.

The other nominees for Game of the Year include Control, Outer Wilds, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Untitled Goose Game which is also nominated for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the IGF Awards, taking place in conjunction with the Game Developers Choice Awards.

Honorable mentions went to Apex Legends, Disco Elysium, The Outer Worlds, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Check out the full list of categories and nominees from the GDC website.

The Game Developers Choice Awards will be hosted by Kim Swift, current Game Design Director, Google’s Stadia 2P Games and ex-Valve designer behind Portal and Left 4 Dead. The entire event will be livestreamed at the official GDC Twitch channel on March 18.
