Ian Rush and John Barnes Confirmed as New Icons for FIFA 20

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Over the past few weeks, EA Sports has been revealing all the new features coming to FIFA 20. We’ve had a deep dive into Volta, the well received career mode changes, Ultimate Team‘s new objectives system, and the new Icons have been revealed.

Six were revealed a couple of weeks ago, including Didier Drogba and Ian Wright, but some were left unannounced. While their silhouettes were revealed for people to guess, no one knew for sure who the final new Icons were.

Now, though, EA Sports has revealed two of them, and they are Liverpool legends Ian Rush and John Barnes. We don’t yet know their overall ratings, stats, or even how many different variations they’ll have, but you can see the card images in Liverpool’s tweet below.

Rush will likely be a ST card, having been a prolific scorer throughout his career, and Barnes will likely be a LW card, using his devastating pace and strength to burst through defences. If only EA Sports could incorporate Barnes’ part in New Order’s World in Motion into the game somehow.

That leaves seven more Icons that are still to be revealed for FIFA 20. You can take a look at the teaser images in EA Sports’ tweet, and let us know your guesses in the comments down below.

It’ll be interesting to see whether John Barnes and Ian Rush make it into the collection of overpowered Icons that seems to be the same in every game.

FIFA 2o launches on Sept. 27.
