The tech demo of Unreal Engine 5 running on PS5 revealed a couple of days ago was very impressive, but its features won’t be exclusive to Sony’s console.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney took to Twitter today to mention that the demo was the culmination of years of discussions between Sony and the house of Unreal on the future of graphics and storage architectures.
Yet, he clarified that the Nanite and Lumen technology that powered the demo will be fully supported on both PS5 and Xbox Series X, and will look awesome on both consoles on top of high-end PCs.
Earlier this week, Sweeney had very flattering words to share on the PS5’s storage architecturee, mentioning that it was “far ahead” of even current highest-end PC and “not only the best in class in consoles but the best in any platform.”

Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X are scheduled to launch in the 2020 holiday season. Sony recently reconfirmed that its console is still on track for that release window despite the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
