Right now, individuals in “select countries” can grab up to 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online for free with their Twitch Prime membership. If you’re already a Switch Online member, the offer appears to “stack” with existing subscriptions as well (as long as you don’t have a Family Membership).
The only catch is that the 12 months of total service is divided up into two chunks, and there are 60 days of wait time in between. Amazon/Twitch Prime members can claim 3 months of Nintendo Switch Online for free right now, and then grab the remaining 9 months after waiting for a bit (with their Prime account active, of course).
Payment information is required when you first claim the offer, and after each chunk of free service, you’ll be automatically renewed for more months of non-free service if you don’t opt-out ahead of time:
“Following the end of your initial 3-month Nintendo Switch Online membership in countries where Nintendo Switch Online auto-renewal is enabled, your membership will automatically renew for 3-month periods if automatic renewal is not turned off at least 48 hours before the end of the 3-month period.”
The same applies after the 9-month portion of the free subscription ends, only this time, you’ll be automatically signed up for another 12 months.
Nintendo Switch Online is of course required for online play on the console, but it also includes access to classic NES games on a monthly basis. Here’s the most recent offering that just dropped on March 13. Cloud storage and other benefits are also included in the service.
Another big draw for Switch Online is the free access to Nintendo’s new battle royale Tetris 99. This newest iteration of the best selling game of all time works incredibly well in it’s new, more competitive form.
Twitch Prime members can claim the offer here, and also find more information in the included Frequently Asked Questions section.
