Three years ago, The Witcher tabletop RPG was announced and in just a few weeks, it will be available for purchase.
Sadly, though, it won’t be available for everyone–in fact, it will only be available for purchase by those attending GenCon in August. At booth #1752, at the back of the Exhibit Hall, R. Talsorian Games will have a booth set up where from August 2 to August 5, attendees can purchase the tabletop game.
Fear not, though. Everyone will have a chance to get their hands on this game shortly after GenCon. In the days following the event, PDF’s will be available online via DriveThruRPG. If you fancy a physical version, books will be posted on the R. Talsorian online store once the full print is complete and delivered.
Here’s a preview of the book.
It’s currently unknown how much The Witcher tabletop RPG will cost, but we’ll be sure to update the story when the game goes live for purchase.
For those unaware, when it was announced, The Witcher tabletop RPG was described as a role-playing game set in the universe of the famed CD Projekt Red games (and naturally, the Andrzej Sapkowski book series), and was being created by the team behind the now-famous Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG. More specifically, it will take place between the events of the second game, Assassin of Kings, and the third, Wild Hunt. Players will be able to create their own cast of characters based on what’s already present in the universe, i.e. class, race, etc. Just like the games, players will be able to hunt monsters, solve mysteries, resolve conflict (however you see fit) and as expected, romance others in the game.
If you’re not interested in creating your own characters, players are free to use the stats and likeness of characters already existing in The Witcher universe, such as Geralt of Rivia himself.
