If you’re not a backer, you don’t have access to the current build, but don’t worry. We got you covered.

Below you can see over an hour of raw gameplay from the new version, showing some of the most interesting features.

First of all, you’ll get to see the new character creator in action, showing the customization of a female avatar. It’s very advanced, and it lets you achieve some very pleasing results. It’s also an interesting and unique approach compared to other features of this kind on the market.

After that, we explore the new planet of ArcCorp, and its hub Area 18, first on foot, and then flying around. ArcCorp follows the same concept as Coruscant in Star Wars, as it’s a fully urbanized planet with a surface completely covered by an absolutely massive megacity.

It’s an impressive sight whether you’re just walking around Area 18, or flying between the skyscraper. Personally, I just hope that Cloud Imperium Games gets rid of the “no fly zone” force field, or minimizes it so that it’s a lot closer to the ground. Being able to fly gauntlet deep in the trenches would be awesome.

We also fly to the two new moons of ArcCorp, Wala and Lyria. They sport very different environments and are dotted with explorable outposts.

Of course, you should keep in mind that this is still alpha, so you’ll see glitches in the footage. The game has a lot of potential and what is already playable now is very impressive, but it certainly requires further polish.

Star Citizen is coming exclusively to PC but doesn’t yet have a release date. For the sake of full disclosure, the author of this post has been among the game’s backers since the time of the first Kickstarter.
