Bandai Namco is letting more information and assets of its upcoming action-JRPG Scarlet Nexus filter through the grapevine.
The official Twitter account of the game has been providing setting screenshots and details (sources: 1, 2) while artist Masakazu Yamashiro has posted some disturbing (in a good way) sketches for the Others, the monsters that we’ll have to fight in the game (sources: z1, 2, 3).
You can check them out below.
The first image focuses on a hospital that certainly looks haunted.
“Due to an Other attack 10 years ago, the hospital located in the city of Suoh now sits frozen in time. The marks of the tragedy still exist in the ruins of the old building to this day.”
The second showcased “Kunad Highway.”
“A major highway that once connected cities now sits deserted. Cherry blossom trees have grown into huge entities & large swarms of Other infest the area.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s how Bandai Namco describes Scarlet Nexus.
“In the far distant future, a psionic hormone has been discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it.
As humanity enters this new era, deranged mutants known as Others begin to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Impervious to conventional weapons, those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psychics, are our only chance to fight the onslaught from above and preserve humanity.
Since that fateful day psychics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force, humanity’s last line of defense.
Players will dive into a complex story of bonds, courage and heroism crafted by the minds behind the iconic TALES OF game, TALES OF VESPERIA. Using psycho-kinetic powers, the world becomes an important ally. Lift, break, and hurl pieces of the environment to build attack combos and lay waste to enemies.”
If you’d like to see more of Scarlet Nexus, you can check out the latest promotional video, the original trailer, a gallery of screenshots, and another gameplay showcase presented by director Kenji Anabuki and producer Keita Iizuka, and more screenshots.
Of course, you should also read my own preview from a few days ago.
The game is coming for PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
