We get to take a quick look at the character creation options, then we move on to relevant characters that we’ll encounter in the game, including Toukichiro, Oda Nobunaga, and Mumiyo.

Guardian spirits make a comeback from the previous game, and there will be new ones including the shark-like Kagewani, the lightning bird Amenomitoi, and the mountain wolf Magami.

The next relevant element we see is the Youkai form, which allows the main hero to turn into a monster at any time. While this form benefits for overwhelming power, its effects vary greatly depending on the guardian spirit you’re using.

More new systems showcased include the Benevolent Graves in the form of blue blades that let you summon the spirits of other players to fight by your side. We also see Sunekosuri, the cute youkai cat that can recharge your own youkai gauge by following you around.

More screenshots showcase the enemy youkai, all of which can be robbed of their powers upon defeating them, allowing the players to make them their own.

Last, but not least, we get to see the hatchet, which is a new weapon type that can be thrown in various ways depending on the fighting stance.

Its flexibility between melee and ranged attacks grants it an advantage over long-distance weapons like guns and bows.

You can check out all the images below.

NiOh 2 will release for PS4 in early 2020. If you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest trailer and plenty of multiplayer gameplay.

Recently, Twinfinite attended a presentation by Producer Fumihiko Yasuda, who shared a lot of interesting details about the game, including an overview of its extensive multiplayer features.

Last, but not least, a few days ago we heard about the upcoming open beta.
