Next God of War Teased During PS5 Event; “Ragnarok Is Coming”

Sony’s second PS5 showcase of the summer aired tonight, revealing both the console’s launch date and price for the very first time. But after that big bomb drop there was one more surprise to end the show: the next chapter in the God of War series was teased.

There wasn’t a great deal to go on other than Kratos narrating over the top of Kratos’ Omega emblem, as he seemed to be talking to Atreus. The Omega lights up with Viking runes toward the end, right before the words “Ragnarok Is Coming” close out the sequence.

It suggests that, as expected, the next God of War game will follow on directly from the events of the 2018 game, with Kratos and his son Atreus in pursuit of a new adventure.

As for when that’ll be, we’re given a launch window of 2021.

The team at Twinfinite are big fans of the 2018 God of War game, scoring the game 4/5 in our review and concluding:

God of War marks the glorious and bloody return of everyone’s favorite Spartan, and with the new dive into Norse mythology, there’s still plenty of adventures to look forward to as the series evolves.”
