Muv-Luv fans who have missed the Kickstarter campaign for the localization of the series also missed on the Muv-Luv Alternative Codex, but this will likely change.
The Muv-Luv Alternative Codex is basically what it says on the tin, an absolutely massive sourcebook with over 400 pages including basically everything one may want to know about the series and its grim science-fiction setting.
This includes information on development, the world, the mecha, the terrifying alien race named BETA, and pretty much everything in-between.
While the impressive hardcore version is likely out of reach if you aren’t a backer, the digital version may become available soon as announced today on Steam.
“We plan to release the CODEX as DLC on Steam soon, and we’ll do our best to make this happen! With the approaching release of Photonmelodies, and more projects on the horizon, it’s the best time to have discussions about Muv-Luv, and we’re happy to help fans do what they love!”
Considering that the Muv-Luv Alternative setting is one of the strongest points of the series, and the Codex is a great read, this is great news for those who want to deepen their perspective on the franchise.
If you’d like to know more about Âge‘s games and the Muv-Luv franchise, you can read my article from a weeks ago explaining all you need to know to get into one of the best visual novel series of all time.
You can also read my report of the 20th-anniversary event recently hosted in Tokyo, which was rich with announcements, including the reveal of the Muv-Luv: Alternative sequel titled Muv-Luv Integrate, the announcement of an action game code-named Project Mikhail, an update on Muv-Luv Unlimited The Day After and on the Android version of the original trilogy, the tease of a reboot of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and the announcement of a Muv-Luv Alternative anime.
Just yesterday, we heard a tease mentioning that 2020 “will be a great year for Muv-Luv fans.” So far, so good.
