Seems like people really got into Kickstarter last year. The crowd funding platform has seen a steady climb in both projects and supporters willing to fund them in 2015, with 978,000 backers pledging over $144.4 million. Those numbers are nothing short of stupefying, so here’s an official graphic to help break them down:

Projects like the simple card game Exploding Kittens, the brainchild of creators Elan Lee, Shane Small, and Matthew Inman, enjoyed the support of over 219,000 backers to the sweet tune of over $8.8 million dollars. It seems there’s no shortage of eager players out there hungry for new and innovative games and video games. The website continues to grow and more and more developers are turning to the fans to see their dream projects come to life.

This year also saw its share of Kickstarter disasters, with games like Unsung Story leaving backers with quite the bitter taste in their mouths upon failing to deliver. Still, the website doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

What’s your take on crowd funding? Is it a good thing for the industry? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
