Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, might be teasing the studio’s next game (long-rumored to be Injustice II) with his twitter account. Since yesterday, Boon has changed his profile picture to a photo depicting the Roman numeral II, as well as his cover photo, which is now a low-res picture of a drum roll.
This wouldn’t be the first time Boon has used his Twitter for game teasing purposes. In May 2014 he tweeted a photo of a Lincoln MKX car with the tagline “Hmmm…I wonder what the X stands for?” This tease, of course, foreshadowed the unveiling of the studio’s latest project, Mortal Kombat X.

There’s no guarantee that Boon is dropping hints at a possible Injustice II, but with E3 around the corner it’s not a wild theory. Rumors of the game’s existence have been circulating for a while now, and with the team wrapped up on Mortal Kombat X, the studio is poised to return to the DC world.
What do you think of this? Is Ed Boon taunting us with Injustice II or just goofing around?
