Half-Life Alyx was unveiled November 2019 and will serve as a prequel of sorts to Half-Life 2 in telling some of the story of Alyx Vance before Gordon Freeman came into the picture.

The store page gives a more in-depth summary:

Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.

As founders of a fledgling resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.

The last entry in the series was Half-Life 2: Episode Two in October of 2007, so it’s fair to say fans have been waiting quite a while for Valve to continue the much beloved FPS.

While Valve has expressed some enthusiasm about continuing the series from here, anyone looking for the next part of Gordon Freeman’s saga will have more of a wait.
