Fortnite has started its eight season of new content with the 8.0 update today, a new Battle Pass, and an incredibly long list of patch notes detailing all changes.

The biggest addition to the Battle Royale mode with the update is a giant volcano has appeared on the map and created two new locations: Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon.

The volcano does spew lava, which causes one damage per touch and bounces players off the surface. There are also “Volcanic Vents,” or gusts of hot air, that elevate players into the sky.

For new weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale, the Pirate Cannon can fire cannonballs or players through objects, cause damage to enemies, and are found throughout the environment. The 8.0 update also vaulted several vehicles and seasonal weapons, such as the X-4 Stormwing airplane and Chiller Grenades.

Other little changes for Battle Royale include more detailed “World Markers” that can highlight items and danger to teammates, a Party Assist feature that allows a party to contribute to a player’s Daily or Weekly Challenge, and has increased the Infinite Dab emote duration in the lobby once again from 11 to 12 hours.

Fortnite’s cooperative Save the World also received a hefty update with the 8.0 patch by overhauling the hero loadout system detailed earlier this week, a visual update and Lakeside biome for the Plankerton area, and a new mission type called “Eliminate and Collect!” that offers better rewards for more enemies killed within a 10-minute time limit.

The new hero loadout system changes or reworks all heroes’ perks, abilities, and unique names for the heroes. The 8.0 update introduces Team Perks, which are abilities that can be unlocked by equipping certain heroes to a player’s support squad.

These abilities range from adding extra jumps to increasing damage to all traps in a certain area. Check out the official Fortnite 8.0 patch notes for the giant list of hero changes.
