FIFA 19 Was Europe’s Best-Selling Video Game in 2018

FIFA 19 outsold every other title across Europe in 2018, with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 trailing behind.

This report from GfK Entertainment measured sales in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Although their report doesn’t cite specific sales figures, FIFA 19 sold 4.3 million units worldwide in its first week. VGChartz reported the following from that week:

“Breaking down the sales by region, the game sold best in Europe with 3,202,805 units sold (74%), compared to 441,988 units sold in the US (10%) and 71,084 units sold in Japan (2%). Looking more closely at Europe, the game sold an estimated 629,043 units in the UK, 613,744 units in Germany, and 505,911 units in France.”

All three titles were released late into the year: FIFA 19 on Sept. 28, Red Dead Redemption 2 on Oct. 26, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on Oct. 12.

GfK’s Chart-Track shows these three games, in the same order, selling in the UK at positions #2, #3, and #4 into the second week of 2019. All three are behind Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
