Shadowkeep is the next big expansion for Bungie’s mega-popular looter-shooter Destiny 2, and it is launching Sept 17. In addition to adding a bunch of new content, an update will go live that day that will affect all users and change the way armor purchased at the Eververse store will function.
As it stands, items are acquired through the Eververse store by spending Bright Dust, an in-game currency that can be purchased using real-world money. You can also receive small amounts of Bright Dust by breaking down cosmetic gear.
When the Eververse update drops you will be able to earn Bright Dust though completing bounties, which is a nice change and something fans should appreciate.
There are several items available to be purchased at the Eververse store at any given time and are rotated during the games weekly reset. These items have fixed perks, and usually, provide a unique cosmetic look. Oftentimes though, while an item may look great, its perks may not be quite optimal for whatever build you are running.
That is all set to change. This process of purchasing cosmetic armor is being transformed into something closer to what is usual MMO fare, and items purchased in this manner will be referred to as universal ornaments.
Simply put, these universal ornaments will alter the physical look of your currently equipped armor, but without affecting the stats or perks you have so painstakingly curated. It is essentially a glamour system and should allow for more visual diversity among Guardians of all classes.
You can read the entire list of changes coming here, or check out the helpfully provided TL:DR version below.
- All Eververse armor (new and armor you’ve already acquired!) is being converted into Universal Ornaments
- Universal Ornaments can be attached to any newly acquired Legendary armor
- Bright Dust is going to come from doing bounties, not dismantling things you spent money on
- Eververse items can now be pulled from your Collections with Glimmer/Legendary Shards instead of Bright Dust
