First of all, we learn that the impact of COVID-19 on business and development is currently identified as “negligible.”

On top of that, Capcom also mentioned that currently there has been “limited impact” from the data security breach that happened back in November 2020 on the quarter’s business results, but the company is still investigating the scope of the damage. Internal systems have been largely restored.

We learn that shipments of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne have now passed 7.2 million units (as of Dec 31. 2020), while Resident EVil 3 is now at 3.6 million units.

Interestingly, Capcom is not shying away from its arcade operation as it plans to open a new store (reaching a total of 41) and closed none, despite expecting a 19% year-on-year drop in sales.

We also get updates for shipments of various franchises.

  • Resident Evil: 107 million units
  • Stree Fighter: 46 million units
  • Monster Hunter: 66 million units
  • Devil May Cry: 23 million units

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village will impact those sales over the next few months.
