343 Studios Opens Up About Master Chief Collection Updates, Halo 6 Development

In a new blog post, 343 Industries addresses fan concerns over continued support for the Master Chief Collection, as well as how it factors into Halo 6’s development.

Posted to the official halo website Halo Waypoint, the post goes in depth on the company’s future support for the Master Chief Collection. Upon its release on Xbox One in 2014, the set of remastered Halo titles met heavy criticism for enduring bugs, glitches and technical issues. The team has continued to address these issues since, and plans to continue to work on the games throughout 2018.

“We can’t undo the past, nor will we dwell on what could’ve/should’ve been,” Brian Jarrard, community manager at 343 Industries, says. “Instead, we are keenly focused on what’s in front of us – an exciting, brand new opportunity to deliver the ultimate experience for Halo fans past, present and future.”

The post also reassured fans that their continued work and support for the Master Chief Collection would not impact the development of Halo 6, the series’ next installment. Whereas a primary team continues to work on main line Halo titles, a smaller team of experienced individuals will remain dedicated to work on the Collection.

“This team is completely separate from the broader 343 team working on the next Halo FPS title. There’s zero overlap or shared resources to ensure that the larger game team can remain laser focused on the future,” Jarrard writes. “We are committing the necessary resources to do both projects right.”

Moving forward, the team will reach out to the community for help with patch testing and other online play components. No new information regarding Halo 6’s release was given, though a past blog post from the developer left many speculating the game will release sometime after 2018.
