Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus 2 Explained

Billy Butcherson is a normal Salem resident living in the time right before the Sanderson Sisters became witches. Winifred takes a liking to him, and they even kiss once, but he hates witches as much as anyone else in Salem and never joins the sisters. He is raised from the dead and buried again in the original Hocus Pocus, so he pops right out of the ground when witch fan Gilbert starts to dig up his grave.

Gilbert convinces Billy to help him find the ingredients for a spell by lying to the undead man about the purpose of the spell. Billy follows Gilbert around Salem collecting ingredients, including a “petrified spider” that he won from a carnival game. Unfortunately for Billy, one of the ingredients is his head, and Gilbert yanks it off unceremoniously. The curse animating his corpse lifts at the and of the movie allowing him to rest in peace finally.
