Scarlet Nexus is full of fast and fluid action with plenty of options on how to approach combat situations thanks to its skill tree. If you’re trying to figure out which skills to go for, we’ve got some pointers. Here’s a list of the best skills to unlock in the Scarlet Nexus Brain Map skill tree.

Best Brain Map Skills to Unlock in Scarlet Nexus

First of all, you’ll need Brain Points (BP) to unlock skills. The only way to earn more Brain Points is to level up your main protagonist (Yuito or Kasane). Once you have points to spend, here are the skills that you should be aiming for along with the reasoning behind these choices.

Rebound, Aerial Dash, & Double Jump

All three of these movement abilities are found in the Expand section of the Brain Map, and they’re must-haves as basic skills. Rebound allows you to recover quickly after being knocked down, and might just be the most useful of the three when it comes to saving you from frustration. Without it, your character will lay on the ground for far too long after taking a hit. Rebound should be your first unlock.

Aerial dash and double jump are self-explanatory, and they’ll allow you to get to hard-to-reach places to obtain rare items outside of combat. Aerial dash also enables mid-air dodges, which are useful from the beginning of the game right up to the end.

Concurrent SAS Activation

Concurrent SAS Activation is easily one of the best skills in Scarlet Nexus. There are two Concurrent SAS Activation skills to unlock in the Support section of the Brain Map skill tree. The first one will allow you to use two teammate SAS powers at once, and the second will allow you to use four powers at once.

Once you get that second skill, many gameplay options will open up for you in combat. For example, being able to use Gemma’s Sclerokinesis, Hanabi’s Pyrokinesis, Tsugumi’s Clairvoyance, and Luka’s Teleportation all at once as Yuito will make you virtually invincible for a short amount of time as you counter all enemy attacks while dishing out high damage. Be sure to get these skills as early as possible.

Auto-Heal & Brain Drive Auto-Heal

Auto-Heal also in the Support section of the Brain Map, while Brain Drive Auto-Heal is in the Brain Drive section. They’re two of the best skills in Scarlet Nexus because they save you from having to spend useful healing items constantly.

Auto-Heal restores your health when outside of combat, saving you from wasting Jelly items after fights. Brain Drive Auto-Heal restores your health while you’re in Brain Drive mode. And since Brain Drive auto-activates when the meter is full, you’ll essentially be getting random passive healing during combat.

Quick Item

Quick Item is found in the Support section of the Brain Map, and it’s the best skill to get for when you actually do need to manually use any items during combat. It removes the animation required to use items, allowing you to do run around and dodge attacks while buffing your team or healing yourself.

Without Quick Item, Yuito and Kasane stand still while using items, making them vulnerable to any and all attacks. It’s not necessarily a skill that needs to be unlocked first, but it’s extremely useful, especially when enemies get much tough later in the game.

Additional Plug-In Equip Slot

There are two Additional Plug-In Equip Slot skills, and they should be unlocked as soon as possible if you want to passively buff your character. Each Additional Plug-In Equip Slot skill allows you to equip an additional Plug-In for Yuito and Kasane.

This is useful because Plug-Ins have various effects that range from stat increases to bonus EXP gain. They’re just another way to customize the protagonist to your liking in terms of gameplay. And those stat increases can be huge game-changers when high-level Plug-Ins are equipped.

Weapon Crush Effect Up & Psychokinesis Crush Effect Up

Weapon Crush Effect Up and Psychokinesis Crush Effect Up essentially do the same thing and they’re both found in the Enhance section of the Brain Map. They’re two of the best skills in Scarlet Nexus because they cause both weapon attacks and Psychokinesis attacks to deplete enemy crush gauges much faster.

When an enemy crush gauge is empty, you can perform a Brain Crush to kill them instantly. So basically, these skills will cause those finishing moves to occur much more frequently, no matter how you choose to approach the combat. They even provide base damage increases to weapon and Psychokinesis attacks, which is another big positive.

Max Psy. Gauge Boost & Follow-Up Attack Expand

Max Psy. Gauge Boost is another one that you’ll have to double up on. Both skills are in the Enhance section of the Brain Map, and they each increase the Psychokinesis gauge by a large chunk, allowing you to toss random items at enemies more often. The first skill increases the gauge by 50%, then the second increases it by 100%.

There are also two Follow-Up Attack Expand skills, both found in the Expand section. Max Psy. Gauge Boost and Follow-Up Attack Expand aren’t exactly near each other on the skill tree, but they complement each other perfectly. Follow-Up Attack Expand allows you to perform up to four consecutive follow-up Psychokinesis attacks in a single combo, which you’ll be needing that extra Psychokinesis meter for.

Follow-up attacks greatly lower enemy crush gauges, so the more you can do in a combo, the quicker you can defeat them with a one-hit-kill finishing move. Both of these skills will help with that.

There are many more skills to get in the game, but that’s everything you need to know about the best skills to unlock in the Scarlet Nexus Brain Map skill tree. Be sure to check out our guide wiki for more tips, boss guides, and other general info on the game
