How to Get Squads in Just Cause 4
How you progress in Just Cause 4 is slightly different to the previous games in the series. Instead of completing mission across the whole map, you advance into specific sections of the map. To do so you’ll need Squads. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get Squads in Just Cause 4.
Solis, Just Cause 4‘s new setting, is pretty huge and you need to expand your Army of Chaos so that you can advance into new territories, complete the missions there, and stop the extreme weather that’s tearing through the area.
Squads are what you need to advance your Army of Chaos because, what Rico does is, he sends them out to advance the front line to a new location, with each sector requiring a set number of Squads to take it over.
When looking at the map in Just Cause 4, you’ll see it split into sections, each with a name and a number underneath. This number, and the crossing weapons next to it, signifies how many Squads it costs to takeover, and the front line is the thick red line.
You’ll need to complete a mission in most sectors to take it over, which is shown by a triangle icon, and the area will light up once it’s available.
You’ll see some of the numbers have a + by them. A + means that they give you extra Squads when you take them over. Most cost between 1 and 3 Squads, but some give you extra.
The other way to get Squads in Just Cause 4 is by increasing your Army of Chaos level. As you explore Solis, you’ll see enemy constructions and vehicles that are adorned by red paint. Destroying these objects gives you Chaos points and you get two Squads for every Army of Chaos level you go up.
Don’t expect to have your Army of Chaos level increase a lot throughout your playthrough. By the time the credits rolled for us, we’d only reached level 8.
