Most RPGs nowadays offer players the chance to play through the game all over again in a New Game Plus mode. This allows players to carry their character levels, weapons and other non-essential items from their first playthrough into another second. To balance the playing field, the enemies you face are more often than not stronger, too. As such, some players are wondering whether Final Fantasy 7 Remake has new game plus.
Is There New Game Plus?
Unfortunately, the game doesn’t have a new game plus mode in its release date state. This may be because at this moment in time, only Part 1 of the Remake has officially released.
Square Enix has yet to officially announce how many more parts will be released to finish off the remake of this classic game, but we’d hedge our bets that a new game plus mode won’t be announced for the until all parts are out and players can experience the entirety of Final Fantasy 7 in its Remade form.
Exactly when we can expect the rest of the Remake to release remains to be seen, but we’ll be sure to let you know of any announcements regarding a new game plus mode as soon as possible by updating this post.
On the up side, for those looking for another reason to run through Final Fantasy VII Remake for a second time, there is a ‘Hard’ difficulty mode that’s unlocked upon beating the game the first time. It may not be the same, but it’ll at least grant you a bit of a challenge. There’s even a trophy for beating the game on ‘Hard’ difficulty, too!
While playing on Hard, you cannot use any items and only HP is restored at rest spots, no MP.
*Minor spoilers ahead*
In addition, for beating the game you get double EXP and triple AP bonuses, and you can access a special combat simulator in Hojo’s Lab which you can get to by selecting Chapter 17 from chapter select once you unlock it.
That’s everything you need to know about new game plus in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Sorry it’s not the news you were probably hoping for! Looking for more tips and tricks? Head over to our guide wiki, search for Twinfinite, or check out more of our coverage below.
