How to Get Start Boost in Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled

Thankfully, getting the start boost in the game is very easy, and probably more so than it is in Nintendo’s flagship racer.

When a race is about to begin, four lights will appear on the screen, counting down until it begins. Three will be red and one will be green, and you need to start using the accelerator at the right time.

What you need to do is press X (A if you’re playing on Xbox One) to start your engine just after the third red light turns on. If you look into the bottom right of the screen, you’ll see the boost bar that is usually used for drifting and getting boosts that way. When you press accelerate before the race starts, this bar will fill up orange by three quarters.

It needs to be this orange color when the green light shows for you to get the start boost. If you do it at the right time, you’ll shoot off to the front of the pack. Some of the other racers will do it too, even in offline races against the AI, so it’s important that you learn how to use it.
