Borderlands 3 – 50% Off
- Price: $29.99 (Was $59.99)
- Buy from Steam
When players think of the Borderlands franchise, a few things come to mind. Silky smooth shooter gameplay, a hilarious robot buddy called Claptrap with a penchant for toilet humor, and about a bazillion different guns.
Borderlands 3 continues that trend but on a bigger and bolder scale than ever before. The gameplay retains its fast-paced charm, all the while looking lovely with its cel-shaded graphics.
This time around, Borderlands 3 sees you taking on the Calypso Twins to stop them from uniting the bandit clans and getting one of the galaxy’s most valuable treasures.
The main game will take you upwards of 30 hours to beat, and if you find yourself itching for more, you can buy the three additional expansion packs — Bounty of Blood, Guns, Love and Tentacles, and Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot — to give you even more to work your way through.

This might seem like a bit of a strange pick, but hear us out. Terraria has been around for a while now and has occupied and largely dominated the ‘2D Minecraft’ space since its release back in 2011.
Whether you want to build the most luxurious house you possibly can, or go delving into intricate cave systems teeming with treasures and monsters, you can do it all in Terraria. To top it off, Terraria recently received its ‘Final Journey’ free update, which adds in the end game content so players can finally wrap up their journey.
If you’re looking to escape everything going on in the world and explore a charming 2D world, you could do a lot worse than Terraria.
Destiny 2: Upgrade Edition – 33% Off
- Price: $33.49 (Was $49.99)

Destiny 2 is the king of looter shooters right now. No matter how hard they try, other games can’t keep their grinds as compelling as Bungie manages to make Destiny 2’s. The persistent online game blends silky-smooth shooting against an epic sci-fi backdrop that sees you jetting off to different planets to deliver a big dose of pain to the different alien races.
With the base game of Destiny 2 now free, the Upgrade Edition is what you’ll want to pick up if it gets you hooked. This offers up both the Forsaken and Shadowkeep expansions to get you up-to-date ahead of the Beyond Light expansion releasing on Sept. 22.
Bungie’s already committed to bringing fresh content to Destiny 2 up until at least 2022, with The Witch Queen releasing in 2021, and Lightfall coming the year after. Might as well get a cheeky discount on all the existing content and get grinding that Light level while you’re waiting for September to roll around!

Life Is Strange 2 – 63% Off
- Price: $14.62 (Was $39.95)
- Buy from Steam
This one is for all the people out there who love to get engrossed and immersed in their video game stories. There’s no shooting or combat of any kind here. There are just two brothers, on the run, meeting a cast of colorful characters as they try to come to terms with the supernatural twist that’s just inflicted itself upon their lives.
In the process, Life Is Strange 2 touches on hard-hitting, real-life issues such as racism, police brutality, religious cults, drugs, and how it is to navigate these as a teenager. You’ll have to make tough decisions that’ll determine how Sean and Daniel Diaz’s story pans out.
All of this culminates into a gripping and hard-hitting cross-country adventure that’s difficult to put down between episodes. Fortunately, you won’t have to as you can download the complete season for 63% off.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – 66% Off
Best Steam Summer Sale 2020 Deals
- Price: $15.29 (Was $44.99)
- Buy from Steam
There’s a good chance you completely missed A Plague Tale: Innocence when it released last year. Telling the story of Amicia and her young brother Hugo in 1349, A Plague Tale sees players on the run from inquisition soldiers as they navigate an unruly amount of rats that’ll gnaw you to death if you wander into the dark.
This directly feeds into the gameplay, with players having to solve environmental puzzles to navigate dark rooms and streets, using lamps to clear a path through a sea of rats, or using Amicia’s slingshot to smash a pot to distract an inquisition soldier.
If that’s not swayed you, perhaps its graphical prowess will. A Plague Tale looks simply stunning when running on a powerful gaming PC. A personal favorite for kicking back one evening and enjoying a more laidback adventure.

Doom Eternal – 50% Off
Best Steam Summer Sale 2020 Deals
- Price: $29.99 (Was $59.99)
- Buy from Steam
We’ve had enough calm and quiet recommendations, so let’s go 0-100 real quick with Doom Eternal. This is the epitome of fast-paced, gory FPS action. Hell’s armies have invaded Earth, and as Doom Guy, you’re tasked with sending them back to the underworld.
Alongside the arsenal of usual weapons in Doom like the Super Shotgun and Heavy Cannon and Plasma Rifle, players now have a shoulder-mounted flamethrower to give their demon enemies a nice toasting.
It’s the way in which Doom Eternal forces players to utilize its glory kills, chainsaw and aforementioned flamethrower that really makes it stand out from the crowd.
Glory kills net you health drops, the chainsaw replenishes ammo, and using the flamethrower on enemies causes them to drop armor. This adds another tactical layer to Doom’s combat, while never feeling like it’s slowing down the action.
Honestly, we could sit here and gush about how silky smooth and great Doom Eternal plays, but that’s wasting precious time that you could be taking advantage of it being 50% off and just playing it for yourself. Go buy Doom Eternal…
Half Life: Alyx – 25% Off
- Price: $44.99 (Was $59.99)
- Steam Store Link
No, noooo it’s not Half-Life 3, but it is a pretty fantastic Half-Life game, and a VR title no less. Taking place between the first and second games, Alyx puts players in the shoes of Alyx Vance, humanity’s last hope for survival against the alien race, the Combine.
This isn’t some short but sweet VR tech demo of sorts, either. Half-Life: Alyx will take you around 10 or more hours to beat, depending on how thorough you are at seeing everything.
If you’ve been looking for a truly premium VR title, and you’re still patiently waiting for Half-Life 3, Alyx will help satiate those cravings for a little while longer.
Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order – 50% Off
Best Steam Summer Sale 2020 Deals
- Price: $29.99 (Was $59.99)
- Steam Store Link
It feels like a long time since we got a good single-player Star Wars game. Well, it was, but Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order is proof that put in the right hands, the IP can thrive and deliver the kind of epic experience in a galaxy far, far away that fans can’t get enough of.
Telling an entirely new tale, The Fallen Order follows the story of a young Jedi Padawan who escaped the purge of Order 66 and now must rebuild the Jedi Order if it has any hope of surviving.
Taking the kind of tactical melee combat from something like Dark Souls, some classic 3D platforming, and tossing it all into a Metroidvania take on a Star Wars galaxy, The Fallen Order is simply a joy to play.
Ricocheting blaster rifle fire back at Storm Troopers with a flick of your lightsaber, or sending one flying off the edge of a cliff with your Force Push never fails to be fun.
EA finally got it right with the Star Wars license, and we can’t wait to see what’s next from Respawn Entertainment. In the meantime, get this great game for half off and become the Jedi master you’ve always known you are deep inside.
