How to Load your Ships With Materials in Anno 1800
In Anno 1800, you succeed by producing finished goods and providing them to your citizens to increase their happiness. They are also an incredibly valuable commodity, and the sale of these items will be a driving factor in a successful economy. Here’s how to load your ships with materials in Anno 1800.
However, not every island is able to cultivate every type of resource. You need both wheat and hops to produce beer, but the climate required for each is different and thus will have to be imported from one of your other colonies… or, failing that, purchased from one of your competitors.
Doing so will require a ship, preferably fast, with enough free space in the hold to move the required goods from one island to another.
Where to Load Goods and the Best Ship for the Job
As you might imagine, goods are loaded onto your ships at the docks, via your Trading Post building. Bring the ship you have chosen for the job close to the Trading Post, select your ship, and click the transfer button.
This will take you to the transfer screen, and you can adjust how much to transfer between your islands stores and the ships cargo hold.
Simply repeat the process in the desired drop off point. If you would like this to be a recurring run, then be sure to set up a trade route to automate the process. Be sure to check out our guide on how this is done, as it can be a little confusing.
As for what ship to use, well you have several options. The Clipper is the gold standard, but it is expensive and requires a bit of work to unlock. In my experience, a Frigate is almost as good, and you will have access to them much earlier. Simply invest in two or three for the early game, and decommission them as you unlock the more advanced vessels later on.
That’s it, that’s how you load ships with materials in Anno 1800.
