Best EA Games to Play Right Now

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

EA is among the world’s biggest video game publishers and has been a mainstay in the industry for decades now. In between triumphs and controversies EA has racked up quite a portfolio of excellent games over the years either developed in-house or from the background as a publisher. Let’s take a look at nine of the best EA games that are very easily accessible and definitely worth playing right now.

If you want to drill down even further and include BioWare games, we got a list just for that here. Rest assured, games like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are on that one. We didn’t forget about ’em!

Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is among the most underappreciated first-person shooters of this generation. It was unfortunately released around the same time as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1. As a result, it got overlooked by many potential fans.

If you’re a FPS fan and haven’t played Titanfall 2, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Not only does it still have a small (but loyal) player base for its fantastic fast-paced multiplayer, it also has arguably one of the best single-player campaigns seen in a FPS game in recent memory.

Titanfall 2 mixes traditional boots on the ground FPS gameplay (albeit with futuristic weaponry and gadgets) with gameplay that has you piloting different kinds of mech each with their own unique gameplay style such as a close-range ninja, a heavy machine gunner, and a pyro.

Battlefield 1

World War I has been an underused setting in video games but EA empowered DICE to give WWI a try with Battlefield 1 and it worked out wonderfully.

Battlefield 1 featured an interesting take on its single-player campaign. It was a collection of war stories from across the globe rather than one long campaign. While some prefer a cohesive story, the war stories format was well received by many.

The multiplayer featured awe-inspiring maps from all over: Italy, France, Germany, Ottoman Empire and more. The maps were diverse in appearance, and in gameplay as it allowed players to engage on land, in the air, and at sea.

The gunplay, as is usual in Battlefield, felt great, and although it’s not the world’s most realistic WWI game, it was still neat to ride around on horses with sabers and have to have gas masks ready for when gas was thrown into your trench.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends may draw some side eye from Titanfall 2 fans hoping for a sequel, but it has certainly carved out a passionate group of fans out in the incredibly competitive battle royale genre.

Apex Legends takes the traditional battle royale format and injects a bit of Titanfall 2’s gunplay with Overwatch-like classes. The result is a unique blend of battle royale that feels great to play.

If you’re in it for the long haul, Respawn has committed to regularly updating the game with new seasonal content and characters.

Dead Space 2

Best EA Games

When Dead Space 1 first came out, it instantly made its mark on the horror genre. Dead Space 2 took everything people loved about the first game and dialed it up to 11 bringing the series to new (and sadly its highest) heights.

Dead Space 2 is dark, terrifying, and absolutely gruesome. Its innovative space suit UI kept you immersed in the survival horror action without ever fully pulling you out of what you are doing. For many, it’s still the most perfect blend of horror and action that video games has seen to this day.

There are few games since the release of Dead Space 2 that have been able to match its incredibly high bar. If you want to see for yourself why it’s so beloved it’s still easily accessible on Steam.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

Best EA Games

Star Wars Battlefront II

Okay so while yes, if you only tuned into Star Wars Battlefront 2 news when it first came out, you would think that we’re crazy for including it on this list of the best EA games.

It had a very troubling launch where it, deservedly so, received an overwhelmingly negative response from both fans and critics alike for its over the top microtransactions and grinding.

EA and DICE, though, dedicated time into addressing the player concerns, walking back a lot of the problematic aspects, while also focusing on enhancing, improving and adding to the gameplay.

The final product is now a very well-polished and fun to play Star Wars game that properly honors the Battlefront series and is absolutely worth trying if you haven’t yet.

The Sims 4

Best EA Games

The Sims is just a fixture in the industry now at this point. While there is heavy debate in the community over which Sims game is best as some are still loyal to The Sims 3 or even The Sims 1 & 2, The Sims 4 is the most current and easy to get into version of the popular life management game.

If you want the most up to date mods, and first-party support The Sims 4 is where you should go. It has received numerous expansions, “stuff” packs, and other relevant add-ons while amassing a massive bank of community created mods that greatly enhance the game and do silly things like make your depressed fish happier.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Best EA Games

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

Just when people were really down on Star Wars as a video game franchise being handled by EA, EA pulled a huge wild card and entrusted Respawn with creating a single-player, Souls-like, action-RPG set in the Star Wars universe. Um… what?

Well, as crazy as that sounds, it actually work out wonderfully and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was an excellent game and one of the best games of 2019.

The story sees a young Jedi on a quest to find a list of force-sensitive people that have the potential to be trained as Jedi following the near total destruction of the Jedi following the events of Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith.

Its gameplay is mature and challenging, and its story is complex and entertaining. Best of all for hardcore Star Wars fans, it featured no multiplayer or microtransasctions. It was just a story driven game which is all many fans had been asking EA about for years.
