Stairs are simple in function, yet incredibly useful throughout your journey in Minecraft’s blocky world. They can be used to reach heights that are outside the bounds of your jump or, equally important, help you access the second floor of your home. Of course, you have to first know what they’re crafted from, so here’s how to make stairs in Minecraft to help you get started.
How To Craft Stairs in Minecraft
To make stairs in Minecraft in the traditional way, here’s what you do:
- Decide on the material you want the steps made out of.
Steps can be crafted out of a myriad of materials, from wood to stone, to more exotic materials such as Nether brick.
- Collect x6 of one type of material.
Unlike some crafted objects, the materials need to be the type as well as the same make. For example, if you mix Oak Planks with Birch Planks, you won’t get stairs in return. If you want Dark Oak Stairs, then you must gather x6 Dark Oak Planks.
- Place x6 in a Crafting Table in a triangle.
For your hard work, you’re given x4 Stairs. To make an entire stack of stairs, you need x96 of the material, place x16 into each slot.
How To Make Stairs in Minecraft With Slabs
What if you wanted something a bit fancier? Instead of using traditional steps, you can get creative with Slabs. The variety of Slabs in Minecraft are just as expansive as the stairs themselves.
- Pick a material, just like you would with stairs.
- Collect x3 of said material and go to a Crafting Table.
- Drop a single material into each of the slots at the very bottom.
With this method, you’ll be given x6 Slabs of that type. Now, the biggest difference between the two methods is that it takes more to reach a desired height with Slabs.
