Bethesda Delays Starfield & Redfall Into 2023

Bethesda has today announced that both its upcoming space RPG Starfield, and open world co-op shooter Redfall have been delayed into 2023.

The news comes via a tweet from the official Bethesda account, stating:

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launches of Redfall and Starfield to the first half of 2023. The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.”

The announcement continues, “We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us every day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating. We can’t wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon. Thank you for your support.”

While Redfall had not officially been given a release date outside of a Summer 2022 release window, Starfield had been slated to release on PC and Xbox consoles on Nov. 11, 2022. The delay will now mean that both titles will release before the end of June 2023.

This does bring into question whether or not both titles will be during the Microsoft and Bethesda Games Showcase due to take place in just under a month’s time. The announcement does elude to the fact that gameplay will be shown soon, so there’s still a chance, but the avoidance of outright stating they’ll be part of the showcase does suggest gameplay reveals for both titles could come at a later date.
