Sonic Origins Coming To PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC June 23

Earlier today in a press release and trailer, Sega announced a handful of new details about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog remaster collection titled, Sonic Origins. The pre-order bonuses, different versions, and release date just scratch the surface of what was revealed today.

What Games Does Sonic Origins Include?

Sonic Origins will include four different classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles. They are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD.

When Does Sonic Origins Come Out?

Sonic Origins launches in just about two months, on June 23. This date not so coincidentally is the same day that Sonic the Hedgehog was originally introduced to the world.

What Systems Will Sonic Origins be Available On?

Sonic Origins will available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The standard version of the game is $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe version is $44.99. Both editions get the 100 medallion bonus, mirror mode unlocks, and Mega Drive pattern letter box included as pre-order bonuses. And when purchased at any time, the deluxe edition comes with the list below.

  • Difficult Missions Added
  • Letter Box
  • Characters in Main Menu
  • Island Camera on Main Menu
  • Character Animation in Music Playback
  • Exclusive Tracks from Mega Drive Titles

Sonic Origins will feature your favorite classic sonic levels just as you remember them in Classic Mode along with some new features to spice things up. The trailer showed off that you can choose to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles. And here is a list of just some of those features as revealed by Sega.

  • Anniversary Mode
    • The Anniversary Mode provides a full screen display and offers players an infinite number of lives to keep the fun going without any game overs.
  • Missions, Medallions and Museum
    • Put your skills to the test and earn medallions by competing for various missions throughout the games. Players can spend medallions to unlock new content from the vault, try the Special Stage and more.
  •  Better Than Ever
    • Reset, reloaded and remastered — Sonic Origins is playable on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch™ family of systems and PC with an all-new visual presentation, animation and enhancements for the current generation. Experience the excitement as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.

As of right now, it looks like Sonic Origins will be a digital-only release. There has been no information regarding a physical release, but we will report on that if the situation changes.
