Surprise! The second chapter of Deltarune, Toby Fox’s follow up game to Undertale, will release on PC and Mac this Friday.
The news comes after the Undertale 6th anniversary livestream with creator Toby Fox and friends playing through chapter one of Deltarune.
In the announcement, tweeted “See you soon,” we see a short clip of Deltarune’s main characters Kris and Susie returning through the portal in their school and falling back down to the dark world, which was the location of the events of the first chapter.
It ends with information sharing that chapter two is releasing on both PC and Mac this Friday, Sept. 17 at 8 pm EST.
Details on the official Deltarune website state that you can carry over your save file from chapter one simply by seeing the credits on the game. To do this, you need to make sure Kris has slept in their bed at the end of the game.
It’s noted that you can play chapter two without any save data from chapter one, though it’s recommended that you at least generally remember what happened story-wise.
If you haven’t played the first chapter but would like to, or would like to replay it before Friday, head to the Deltarune website to download it for free.
There’s no word yet if chapter two will be free or cost money. When the first chapter was originally released, Toby Fox stated that he intended to put out a full game and that only chapter one would be free. We’ll have to wait for some clarification on if that is still true, and we’ll be sure to update you here when we find out more.
It’s also not clear yet when chapter two will be available for consoles. Chapter one was released on consoles after it launched on PC and Mac, so it’s possible that could be the case here, too.
