That’s why we’ve created this guide. Below you’ll find plenty of info on how healing your health works, when to heal, and more.

How to Heal Your Health in Returnal

There are a few different ways to restore your health – or Integrity, as Returnal refers to it – and each can be useful in different situations.

One of the most common methods of healing your health in Returnal is to pick up Silphium. Appearing as green clumps of material scattered throughout each biome, this resource will restore a certain amount of health to you based on the size of the clump you pick up. Bigger clumps, for example, will heal more of your health, while smaller clumps will restore less.

To ensure you can make use of these, scan the first ones you encounter as you’re starting the game. You’ll then be able to pick up any you see as you adventure into the game’s different biomes by walking up to them and pressing the Triangle button.

You can also heal your health by using Returnal’s Silphium Vials. As you might expect by the name, these items act as curatives that’ll give you an instant boost of Silphium and bring your health back to a higher level. In exchange for their portability though, they’ll be few and far between compared to the loose bits of Silphium laid out above.

More options for healing your health in Returnal include siphoning Integrity from enemies and Obolites. This is done by getting close to either one and then interacting with them. Though the amount you can drain per interaction is limited, it is a good way to heal while in combat.

Finally, you can heal by interacting with Devices which resemble stone beds. These will appear periodically throughout different biomes, and some can instantly restore your health by a set amount. However, they can only be used once, and will become inactive after they are used up.

When You Should Use Each Healing Method

As for what the best times are to heal your health in Returnal, it varies based on the situation.

In general, you’ll want to keep yourself topped-off health-wise whenever you can. Pick up any Silphium clumps you come across, and use Obolites and Silphium vials when necessary. Likewise, you should try to drain Silphium from enemies whenever possible.

If you’re in the heat of combat though, or in an area with several waves of enemies to take on, then you will want to be stingy with your limited-use healing methods. Don’t use Silphium Vials unless absolutely necessary, and if there are Fabrication Pods that you stumble upon, make sure that you won’t need them later before using them.
