It Takes Two has arrived and if you’re a fan of EA and Hazelight Studio’s brand of co-op gameplay, you’ll likely be content with what they are bringing to the table this time. Not only is there still a narrative to work through, but you’ll have more action and puzzle gameplay to keep you busy as you play through the story as well. If you’re here, though, you’re probably having trouble with the Tool Box boss battle. Here’s our guide for how to beat the Tool Box boss battle in It Takes Two.
How to Beat Tool Box in It Takes Two
The Tool Box boss battle in It Takes Two is broken up into a few different phases.
In the first phase, you’ll need to chase after Tool Box, avoiding any falling nails, while also making sure that you don’t run right into the various other traps and pitfalls along the way.
Do this successfully and you’ll eventually reach a point where you and your partner are on a wooden platform facing Tool Box.
Once here, you’ll need to avoid even more attacks including more nails and the Tool Box’s swinging arm. You’ll need to nail the Tool Box’s arm to the wood and then fire the other two nails further down on his arm so that May can swing across with her hammer and break the locks. She’ll need to do this twice in order to start the next phase.
In the next phase, more attacks are introduced including a sawblade that cuts holes in the ground, a pounding arm attack from Tool Box, a saw that will knock out parts of the platform you are standing on.
You’ll need to survive all these new attacks until the Tool Box places its arm on the ground.
Have Cody get on the edge of the arm and have May hammer the yellow circle to the left. This will send Cody airborne, allowing him to attack the gas canister by pressing R2 on PlayStation and RT on Xbox.
You’ll need to do this a few times, but once you’ve done it once, it’s rinse and repeat until you completely drain his health and the boss fight is over.
